On the Edge

Washington has lost any sense of the reality that we may well be falling into an economic abyss, and that if we do, it will be very hard to get out again. (I know that there's a link to Krugman's blog on the right here, but this is a good column. I especially what he says about bipartisanship. This isn't the time for catering to the demands of the Republicans. Their policies got us here. This is the time for decisive action.)

I am still convinced that Obama's got a rapier wit hidden somewhere underneath his sunny disposition, but I do hope he can use it on someone besides Rahm Emmanuel and his other friends, because the Republicans don't respond to subtlety.

And I also can't see how cutting taxes helps unemployed people--they don't pay income taxes when they don't have incomes!
